No tropical cyclone may enter or form within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) in the coming days, but the southwest monsoon or “habagat” will continue to bring rains, particularly over the western sections of Luzon, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Sunday, July 27.

PAGASA weather specialist Obet Badrina said there is currently no low-pressure area within the PAR following the passage of three tropical cyclones.

The country experienced three cyclones between July 16 and 26: Tropical Storm Crising (international name: Wipha), Tropical Storm Dante (Francisco), and Typhoon Emong (Co-may).

While the chance of cyclone formation remains low through the end of July, the habagat will continue to bring heavy rains over western Luzon.

On Sunday, moderate to heavy rains (50-100 millimeters) are expected over Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro.

PAGASA warned that moderate to heavy rainfall could lead to localized flooding, particularly in low-lying or urban areas, and may also trigger landslides in mountainous and high-risk communities.

Meanwhile, scattered light to moderate rains and thunderstorms may prevail over Metro Manila, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Calabarzon, and the remaining parts of Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, and Mimaropa.

The rest of the country is expected to experience generally fair weather, although isolated rain showers or thunderstorms may still occur in the afternoon or evening.

On Monday, July 28, moderate to heavy rainfall may affect Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Abra, Benguet, Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro.

By Tuesday, July 29, moderate to heavy rains are likely to persist over Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Abra, Benguet, Zambales, and Bataan.
