Did Davao City 1st district Rep. Paolo Duterte just give a preview of the rumored "Duterte bloc" in the House of Representatives?
On Sunday night, July 27--less than 24 hours before the House convenes for the 20th Congress--Paolo Duterte posted on his Facebook a picture of him and three other supposed members of the bloc, which he referred to as "Davao group".
These are his son, Davao City 2nd district Rep. Omar Duterte; and his cousin, PPP Party-list Rep. Harold Duterte. Both are neophyte House members.
Also in the picture is Davao City 3rd district Rep. Isidro Ungab. Ungab and Paolo Duterte are both former deputy speakers.
"Davao group meeting for lunch with Congressman Sid Ungab, Cong Omar Duterte and Cong Harold Duterte to regroup, reflect and recommit to what we stand for," the 1st district representative wrote in his post.
"We're not standing still and the purpose doesn't change - for the people of Davao City. The work continues with purpose and direction," he added.
All four flashed the familiar fist pose popularized by family patriarch, former president Rodrigo Duterte.
The quartet isn't expected to join the majority or minority in the 20th Congress.
