Marikina LGU conducts clearing ops after monsoon floods
Following the widespread flooding brought by recent typhoons and the southwest monsoon (habagat), the local government of Marikina has launched clearing operations to remove flood debris and restore cleanliness in affected areas.
On Saturday morning, July 26, city personnel took advantage of the fair weather to conduct cleanup operations along the jogging lane stretching from Barangay Sto. Niño to Barangay Malanday and Barangay Tumana.
They also carried out intensive cleanup in various parts of the city, clearing fallen branches, accumulated garbage, and thick layers of mud left behind by the floods.
On Friday, July 25, the City Environmental Management Office (CEMO) had also conducted a cleanup operation around the Tumana–Malanday Pumping Station to ensure the clean and uninterrupted flow of water, especially with occasional rain still being experienced.
The local government also assured residents that declogging operations on drainage canals across the city will continue to be carried out to ensure proper water flow and help prevent future flooding.
The clearing efforts were carried out in line with the directive of Marikina Mayor Marjorie Ann “Maan” Teodoro to maintain cleanliness and ensure the safety of Marikeños.
