The spirit of “bayanihan” shines brightly in Parañaque as various agencies delivered much-needed relief to more than 4,000 residents affected by the flooding in several city communities .
Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez thanked partner agencies for their swift response in providing essential donations, calling it a clear display of “bayanihan in action”.
Olivarez said the Solaire (Bloomerry Cultural Foundation, Inc.) donated beddings -- including blankets, pillows, and sleeping mats -- for evacuees. Each affected family received roasted chicken and 10 cups of rice.
He said other agencies that provided help were San Miguel Corporation with 100 boxes of canned goods and rice; Mang Inasal in Walter Mart and Cobankiat Hardware with assorted food items and blankets; Cavitex with 400 packs of 2-kilo rice, PAGCOR with 1,000 food packs, and Maynilad with 4-liter bottles of water.
The mayor also thanked the volunteers who assisted in repacking and distributing the relief goods.
Olivarez said the city government continues to monitor the situation and vowed full support for the affected families until their full recovery.
