Right on time for a much-needed midyear home refresh, IKEA Philippines launches the Stockholm 2025 collection with an inspired lineup of 93 pieces that highlight natural materials, timeless design, and the quiet luxury of living well. From statement sofas and handwoven wool rugs to sculptural chandeliers and mouth-blown glass vases, the collection reflects IKEA’s enduring commitment to good design made accessible.
“The purpose of the Stockholm collection has always been to prove that high quality doesn’t need to come at an intimidating cost,” shares Karin Gustavsson, Stockholm’s creative lead. “We have worked to create a no-compromise kind of collection where every piece tells a story.”
IKEA Philippines Country Retail Manager Ricardo Pinheiro echoes this sentiment. “The new edition of Stockholm was thoughtfully designed with the elements of quality, affordability, sustainability, form and function in mind to ensure the collection is accessible to many real homes,” he said. “This is why it feels both global and deeply personal—warm, welcoming, and made to last—perfect for Filipino spaces, whether it’s a condo or a spacious family home.”
In this feature, Manila Bulletin creatives—architect and columnist Nicholai Go, key opinion leader and Manila Bulletin Lifestyle editor-at-large Jane Kingsu-Cheng, and yours truly—select our favorite pieces. Whether you value multifunctionality or seek pieces that speak to your design sensibility, these top picks from Stockholm 2025 will fit right into your home.
Vase (brown)
This thick, brown-colored glass vase brings warmth and artistry to any space. Thanks to it being handcrafted, it has an organic form that makes it feel like a sculptural accent. It works beautifully with curved pieces—like my Ikea x Sabine Marcelis donut-like shape lamp—and adds depth to a space.
Chair (birch veneer)
A nod to Scandinavian design, this armchair features bent birch veneer and a generously sized seat in woven linen bands. The light wood and clean lines create a minimalist, timeless appeal, perfect for blending into an earthy, neutral palette. The woven seat offers a layer of texture that elevates the piece, making it feel both sophisticated and comfortable.
Rug (white, brown, and light blue handwoven)
This handwoven wool rug adds visual interest and warmth with its geometric pattern and soft, muted tones. It's even reversible, making it as functional as it is stylish. The combination of white, brown, and light blue works especially well in calming, curated interiors by adding both color and texture without overwhelming the space. A definite conversation piece!
3‑seat modular sofa
This modular sofa offers a wide range of flexibility that can be configured to fit different sizes and types of spaces. It lends itself beautifully to both open-plan environments and tighter, zoned configurations. This sofa's high resilience foam and pocket-spring core maintain geometric integrity ensuring durability and less prone to needing repair.
Bouclé armchair
A standout for its sculptural minimalism, this bouclé armchair offers both textural depth and ergonomic intimacy. Its low profile and compact footprint make it a versatile insert for small reading nooks or transitional spaces without compromising architectural harmony. The tactile bouclé textile not only softens hard lines but enhances material contrast in modern interiors.
Glass‑door cabinet (oak veneer)
This cabinet exemplifies the quiet strength of Scandinavian joinery, where clarity of form meets everyday functionality. Its see-through design is flexible as it can blur the boundaries of different spaces while maintaining the feeling of an open space. It’s an ideal element for grounding a room—visually anchoring lighter compositions with rhythmic transparency and natural tactility.
Pendant lamps (glass/brass plated)
Style meets practicality with this elegant pair of pendant lamps. With brass-plated details and hanging glass tubes that are easy to install, this chandelier delivers focused lighting on the dining table and offers a soft and sophisticated glow from afar. It’s definitely a showstopper, and surprisingly manageable to maintain, too! A quick wipe with a dry cloth is all it takes to keep it sparkling—perfect for those who prefer understated elegance with minimal effort.
Candlestick/tealight holder (brass color)
These reversible brass-colored candlesticks are as versatile as they are timeless. Made from solid metal, their weight and craftsmanship add a touch of luxury to any table setting. Whether you're lighting a cozy tealight or a tall taper candle, these dual-purpose holders make it easy to switch things up—no need to choose between form and function.
Bowl (dark blue-turquoise)
With no two bowls alike, each can be considered a functional art piece. Mouth-blown by skilled artisans, every bowl offers a unique, organic shape that instantly elevates any space. Made from thick, colored glass for added durability, it can be styled as standalone centerpiece or filled with seasonal accents.
