The Pasig City government continues to assist over 2,200 individuals affected by the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) as five evacuation centers remain open across seven barangays.
582 families housed in evacuation centers
As of Friday noon, July 25, the local government said that a total of 582 families, or 2,221 individuals, affected by flooding were still staying in evacuation centers.
The remaining evacuees have also been provided with food packs, non-food items, and sleeping kits.
Sanitation teams from the city’s Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) program have been deployed to disinfect and flush evacuation center facilities. Water testing is ongoing, and alcohol and anti-mosquito lotion are being distributed to help prevent the spread of diseases.
Health aides have also been assigned to evacuation sites to offer medical services and distribute Doxycycline, a preventive medication against leptospirosis. Health centers in barangays without evacuation sites remain open to serve the public.
Meanwhile, a clearing operation was conducted to remove fallen branches and debris from major roads.
The operations are followed by cleaning, flushing, and hauling efforts to restore road safety and maintain order.
According to the 11:00 a.m. bulletin from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), a Yellow Rainfall Warning remains in effect over Metro Manila due to continued heavy rains.
The city’s Incident Management Team remains on full alert, with more than 2,000 personnel from various city departments and national agencies actively responding to emergencies.
Classes, government work suspended
In line with Memorandum Circular No. 93 from the Office of the President, classes at all levels in Pasig City were suspended on Friday, July 25. Government work was also suspended, except for offices and personnel involved in disaster response and emergency operations.
Despite the suspension, death registration and the issuance of death certificates continue at the Temporary Pasig City Hall.
Emergency hotline remains active
The city government reminded residents that the Pasig City Emergency Hotline (8643-0000) remains open 24/7 for urgent concerns or requests for assistance.
City officials also assured the public that monitoring of weather conditions and the needs of affected communities is ongoing, and that further aid and response measures will be deployed as necessary.
