To help address the risk of leptospirosis, the city government of Las Piñas distributed doxycycline capsules to evacuees temporarily seeking shelter at the city’s seven evacuation centers.
Las Piñas City Mayor April Aguilar said the team of the City Health Office (CHO), headed by Dr. Julie Gonzalez, in coordination with Health Emergency Management Staff (HEMS), visited the seven evacuation centers to distribute the doxycycline to evacuees who were exposed to flooding.

Aguilar said the team of CHO and HEMS distributed doxycycline to the following evacuation centers: Verdant Acres covered court in Barangay Pamplona Tres; Carmencita covered court in Barangay Talon Tres; Phase 4 Gatchalian covered court in Barangay Manuyo Dos and Barangay Manuyo Dos (Satellite) Multi-Purpose Hall; Las Piñas Elementary School - Central, Barangay Elias Aldana; Manuyo Uno Elementary School in Barangay Manuyo Uno and Zapote Elementary School in Barangay Zapote.
She said the team also distributed doxycycline to residents whose places were also flooded.
The mayor urged residents to visit their nearest health center for doxycycline and other medical needs.
Aguilar said the move is part of the city's commitment to protecting the health of its residents, especially those most vulnerable in flooded areas.
