SANTA CRUZ, Laguna – Gov. Sol Aragones announced on Friday that this province is under a state of calamity due to the effects of typhoon ‘’Crising’’ and the southwest monsoon or ‘’habagat.’’
The Sangguniang Panlalawigan issued a resolution on Friday, July 25, declaring a state of calamity following an evaluation conducted by the Laguna Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council) in every town and city.
Aragones said that the PDRRMC registered about 30,000 evacuees throughout the province.
She added that under a state of calamity, the province could immediately act and respond to relief operations and ensure delivery of services to affected residents.
Meanwhile, rescuers retrieved the body of a man who drowned at Palico River, Barangay Lumbangan, Nasugbu, Batangas.
The Philippine Coast Guard-Southern Tagalog identified the victim as Rommel Martinez, 35, a resident of Barangay Reparo, Nasugbu.
Investigation said Martinez was swept away during a fishing trip with a relative on the river on July 22.
A search operation was conducted and Martinez found on Thursday afternoon, July 24.
