Isolated rain showers, thunderstorms possible on SONA 2025 due to 'habagat' — PAGASA
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the southwest monsoon (habagat) will be the dominant weather system during President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday, July 28.
In the weekend leading up to the SONA, from July 26 to 27, occasional rains brought by the habagat are expected to affect Ilocos Region, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, and Occidental Mindoro.
Meanwhile, the rest of Luzon, Western Visayas, and Negros Island Region will experience mostly cloudy skies with isolated rains or thunderstorms.
Elsewhere, skies will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
On Monday, PAGASA said mostly cloudy skies with chances of isolated rains or thunderstorms are expected to prevail over Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan.
The rest of the archipelago will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
From Tuesday, July 29, to Wednesday, July 30, the southwest monsoon will continue to bring mostly cloudy skies with chances of isolated rains or thunderstorms over Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, Zambales, Bataan, Metro Manila, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan.
The rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
From Thursday, July 31, to Friday, Aug. 1, occasional rains due to the habagat will persist in Ilocos Region.
The rest of Luzon will remain mostly cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, while the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with the possibility of localized rain showers or thunderstorms.
