SIP AND SUPPORT Part of the profits from orders at Fundacion Sansó’s Scholarsip Café goes to funding scholarships for aspiring artists
Fundacion Sansó has always been home to the life and legacy of painter Juvenal Sansó’s artworks. That’s a remarkable career that spans over 70 years. Aside from his art, it has also served as a place for emerging artists to shine.
Since its founding in 2014, Fundacion Sansó has been a big player in ensuring the continued development of our country’s cultural sector. Many aspiring artists have found their start through the foundation’s scholarship and grants. Now, museum visitors can also help by supporting their Scholarsip Café.
At the Scholarsip Café, guests can enjoy fresh coffee and various pastries to go with it. It’s a cozy little spot where you could sit and pass some time before checking out the exhibits on display. One corner that stands out is an undisturbed tree that stands near some of the artworks on display. You can also access to the museum shop where you can purchase merchandise from participating artists. For every drink, pastry, and merchandise bought, part of the proceeds help in sending Fundacion Sansó’s scholars to school. Already, Fundacion Sansó’s scholarship program has helped fund scholarships for Bulacan State University. Students from Far Eastern University and the University of the Philippines Diliman have also benefited from receiving thesis grants.
NICE AND COZY Visitors can also show support for other artists by purchasing any of the collaborative merchandise on display
Alternate ways of supporting the foundation can also be found on Fundacion Sansó’s website. One method is through joining the Arts Advocate Circle, where you can become a patron to fund scholarships, exhibitions, and future programs. In return, you get exclusive perks depending on the amount donated. It is separated into three categories: Brittany, Breton, and Floral. For the Brittany tier (₱100,000 per year), you receive a silver-framed Sansó archival print, a 10 percent discount on all merchandise from the museum coffee shop, and exclusive invitations to the annual thanksgiving dinner, private museum events, and special previews. For the higher tiers, perks include being recognized on the museum’s donor recognition wall, private viewings by appointment, and early access to any future programs, shop items, and initiatives.
TOMORROW'S ARTISTS Scholarsip Café also offers a space for artists to share their works through its gallery spaces
In supporting young artists, there is a hope that it can help further flourish our cultural scene as more people get interested in the arts. Support an artist today by stopping by at 32 V. Cruz St., Brgy. Sta. Lucia, San Juan City.
