The Rodriguez Municipal Police Station (MPS) identified the victim as Norberto Javier, currently serving as a barangay tanod in Barangay San Rafael.
According to the initial report, the victim and the 33-year-old suspect, Victor Enavia, were drinking together at Sitio Wawa in Barangay San Rafael around 4:40 a.m.
Due to alleged intoxication, the victim fell asleep on a chair with only the suspect around. For reasons still unknown, the suspect allegedly suddenly took a bolo and repeatedly hacked the sleeping victim.
Authorities recovered a video from the suspect’s cellphone showing the incident. In the footage, the suspect is seen setting up the camera before approaching the sleeping victim and striking him multiple times with a bolo. The victim woke up and cried out, but the suspect continued attacking various parts of his body.
It also showed him saying, “Sorry na… hindi ko ‘to sinasadya. Hindi ko sinasadya ‘to ah. Alamat ako ng buhay ng Wawa, tandaan n'yo (I’m sorry… I did not mean to do this. I did not mean to do this, okay? I am the legend of Wawa, remember that).”
“Hindi ko alam ang ginawa ko. Pasensiya na ha, hindi ko alam ang ginagawa ko. Alamat ako ng Wawa, ito ang tandaan niyo. Tandaan n'yo iba ako, hindi ako yung pipitsuging tao (I did not know what I was doing. I am sorry, I did not know. I am the legend of Wawa—remember that. I am different, not just an ordinary person),” he added.
A witness immediately alerted the police, who quickly responded and found the victim with multiple wounds. He was rushed to Ynares Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
The suspect was immediately arrested and is now in police custody. Authorities are investigating the motive behind the killing.
