Dutertes donate more streetlights, sports equipment

DAVAO CITY – Davao City Rep. Paolo Duterte and acting Vice Mayor Rodrigo “Rigo” Duterte II continue to distribute solar streetlights and sports equipment to improve visibility and security at night and support youth development in the first district.

They turned over 14 solar-powered streetlights to Barangay 14-B and 36 more to Barangay 24-C as part of the Araw ng Barangay festivities on July 25.

They also handed over sports equipment — including a basketball board and ring — to help promote active lifestyle and foster stronger community ties among the youth in the barangays.

Earlier this month, they made a similar donation to other barangays in the first district. On July 10, Barangays 76-A Bucana and Maa each received 15 solar streetlights, followed by Barangay Talomo with 23 on July 16.

“These solar-powered lights will be placed in high-risk and underlit areas to enhance safety and visibility. It is a long-term investment in public safety, sustainability, and grassroots development,” Rep. Duterte said, adding that the project aims to reach all barangays in the first district.

Vice Mayor Duterte echoed the importance of empowering the youth through sports. “We want young Dabawenyos to stay active and engaged. Sports instill discipline, teamwork, and community spirit, values that shape responsible citizens.”

The Dutertes thanked the people for their unwavering support, particularly prayers for former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte. They assured the public that their offices focused on delivering responsive, community-driven public service.
