The Department of Tourism (DOT) has suspended tourism activities in over 100 destinations across 13 regions due to widespread disruptions caused by typhoon “Emong,” tropical storm “Dante,” and the intensified southwest monsoon, or “habagat.”

Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia-Frasco convened an emergency meeting with regional directors and attached agencies to assess field reports, monitor the condition of stranded tourists, and coordinate assistance for affected tourism workers and establishments.

In Metro Manila, operations were temporarily suspended in Intramuros and museums in Makati, Pasig, and San Juan, along with closures at People’s Park and Nature Park in Caloocan and Tagalag Eco-Tourism Park in Valenzuela.

In the Cordillera Administrative Region, local government units halted tours in Benguet, Baguio, Sagada, Kalinga, Ifugao, Apayao, and Abra, affecting trekking, caving, rafting, and cultural programs.

The Ilocos Region reported the closure of Bolinao Falls, Patar Beach, and Hundred Islands in Pangasinan; Tangadan Falls in La Union; and Pinsal Falls in Ilocos Sur.

In Cagayan Valley, coastal tourism in Batanes and eco-sites in Nagtipunan, Quirino, were suspended, while routes to tourist sites in Aurora became impassable due to adverse conditions.

Flooding hampered tourism activities in Bulacan and Pampanga in Central Luzon.

In CALABARZON, authorities closed Calibato Falls and Lagalas Falls in Laguna; Daranak Falls and Hinulugang Taktak in Rizal; the Aguinaldo Shrine and several inns in Cavite; and multiple resorts in Batangas.

In MIMAROPA, island-hopping activities in El Nido and Coron, Palawan, were called off, while coastal areas in Puerto Galera and Occidental Mindoro were placed under restricted access.

In the Bicol Region, sites including the Albay Wildlife Park, caves in Camalig, and coastal areas in Masbate were shut down, with Mount Mayon placed under close monitoring and ferry operations suspended.

Mag-aso Falls in Kabankalan City and the Pamandayan Viewing Site in Antique were declared inaccessible in Western Visayas.

In Central and Eastern Visayas, outdoor tourism activities were suspended, while several flights and sea trips in Leyte were affected.

In Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, SOCCSKSARGEN, and Caraga, local government units issued advisories discouraging tourism-related activities due to heightened risks of flooding and landslides.

The DOT said it is closely coordinating with the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), local government units, and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) to ensure the safety of travelers and tourism personnel.
