ALAMINOS CITY, Pangasinan – This city – the home of the Hundred Islands national park – was among the hard hit areas by typhoon “Emong” in this province Friday, police said.
The Pangasinan Police Provincial Office reported uprooted trees, damaged rooftops, and widespread flooding in several barangays.
Police Col. Arbel Mercullo, Pangasinan police officer-in-charge, with Police Lt. Col. Jose L. Abaya II, deputy provincial director for operations, assessed the situation on the ground.
Police planned to visit Bolinao but called it off due to flooded roads and impassable areas.
Mercullo learned that some police personnel were not spared by the storm.
One officer’s vehicle was severely damaged when a large tree branch fell and shattered the rear windshield.
“In times of calamity, our role as public servants becomes even more critical—not just as law enforcers, but as frontliners of hope and compassion. So let us remain vigilant, responsive, and committed to our sworn duty—to serve and protect, rain or shine,” Mercullo said.
Police Lt. Col. Bernabe Ramos, Alaminos City police chief, accompanied Mercullo during his visit.
