The landslides reportedly affected around three to four houses and occurred amid the impact of multiple weather disturbances currently affecting Metro Manila.
On Friday, July 25, Barangay 128 Kagawad Chito Garza said that the landslide occurred three times along the side of Smokey Mountain. This prompted them, along with the local government and other authorities, to implement the forced evacuation.
The affected residents are now staying at the Barangay 128 covered court, where they are being provided with food and basic assistance. Authorities have advised them against returning to their homes due to fears that another landslide might occur while they are inside.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development-National Capital Region (DSWD-NCR) also continuously coordinated with the local government to assess the situation as well as to ensure the safety of residents and deliver necessary interventions as needed.
Barangay 128 personnel and Manila Police District (MPD) officers continue to closely monitor the area around Smokey Mountain for safety concerns.
