267,000 families in Pangasinan affected by weather disturbances

MALASIQUI, Pangasinan – A total of 267,980 families, consisting of 952,767 individuals, in Pangasinan have been affected by severe flooding and other effects of the series of weather disturbances since last week, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) said.
About 33 municipalities and three cities out of the 48 localities in the province have been affected by the weather disturbance, and a rapid damage assessment team has been deployed for post-disaster risk analysis, PDRRMO assistant head Avenix Arenas said Friday.
The figure was as of 5 a.m. Friday but did not include those affected by typhoon ‘’Emong’’ (international name ‘’Co-May’’), which has been lowered to a severe tropical storm when it made landfall over Agno town Thursday night, she said.
"There are still power outages in these areas, and the line of communication is also difficult at this time. Gov. Ramon Guico III asked for deployment of clearing operation teams to assist the local government units so that accessibility to these areas will not be hindered," she said.
The National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) announced that as of 9 a.m. Friday, transmission lines in the Labrador-Bolinao 69-kilovolt (kV) Line, Bauang-San Fabian 69kV Line, Bauang-Naguilian 69kV Line, Bauang-San Fernando 115kV Line, and Bacnotan-Bulala 69kV Line are down, causing power outages in some parts of Pangasinan and La Union.
The towns of Umingan, Calasiao, Santa Barbara, Malasiqui, Lingayen, Mangaldan, Mangatarem, Bayambang, Aguilar, and Anda, as well as the cities of Dagupan and San Carlos, have declared a state of calamity. (PNA)
