Poy Erram has been officially ruled out for the remainder of the PBA Philippine Cup Finals against San Miguel after sustaining an injury in TNT’s Game 4 loss.
The veteran big man confirmed that he will miss the rest of the series, as he is set to undergo surgery to repair a meniscal tear in his left knee following Tropang 5G’s 86-78 win on Wednesday, July 23, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
"Hindi talaga kakayanin eh. Nagkaroon ng meniscal tear yung left leg ko. Namamaga siya, so kailangan ko pa-surgery," said Erram, who was in civilian attire after sitting out Game 5.
“Out na. Sabi ng doctor namin baka umabot ng three to four months. Magang-maga nga ngayon eh. Nahihirapan ako maglakad,” he added.
Before being sidelined by injury, the 36-year-old giant suited up in Game 4 last Sunday, July 20, at the Mall of Asia Arena despite suffering a sprained ankle.
“‘Yung feeling ko kasi last game, gumanon ‘yung tuhod ko eh. Siyempre naka-gamot kasi ako, so hindi ko masyadong naramdaman. Kinabukasan, dun na. Magang-maga na siya,” he added.
Erram said that he will still be present and continue supporting the team from the sidelines, including in Game 6 on Friday at Philsports Arena, where TNT faces another must-win battle to keep their Grand Slam hopes alive despite trailing 2-3.
“Manonood pa rin ako. ‘Yun na lang magagawa ko—support them, kausapin ‘yung mga players kung anong kailangang gawin offensively, defensively. Kung ano ‘yung mga nakikita ko sa loob.”
