Man electrocuted while clearing flooded home in Rizal
Authorities reported on Wednesday, July 23, that a 20-year-old man was electrocuted amid flooding at the height of heavy rains brought by the enhanced southwest monsoon (habagat) in San Mateo, Rizal, on Tuesday, July 22.
The Rizal Police Provincial Office (PPO) said that the incident occurred at around 9 a.m. on Tuesday in Barangay Sta. Ana.
Based on their investigation, the victim, Ralph Jed Polloso, was removing galvanized iron sheets from his house, which had been displaced due to flooding in the area, when he accidentally came into contact with a live electrical wire that was reportedly submerged in the floodwater.
Authorities said the wire was connected to a nearby electric post, which led to the victim’s electrocution.
He was immediately rushed to San Mateo Doctors Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police said the victim’s family is not pursuing a technical investigation, believing the incident was purely accidental.
