High-speed internet coming to Batanes as Globe upgrades network
Globe Telecom Inc. is upgrading its network infrastructure in Batanes to significantly improve the mobile network experience, providing high-speed connectivity to residents and visitors of the remote province.
The telecommunications giant said it is employing alternative and innovative transport technologies to strengthen its network in the province, whose challenging terrain has long disrupted internet service.
The upgrade, which expands the 4G LTE service, is poised to address the growing demand for connectivity in Batanes.
"This initiative underscores Globe's unwavering commitment to digital inclusion, ensuring that even our remotest communities have access to the same quality of mobile services enjoyed in urban centers,” said Globe’s Head of Service Planning and Engineering Joel Agustin.
Agustin said enhancing cell sites in the province will result in faster downloads, smoother streaming, and more seamless online interactions.
Globe expects this improved connectivity to further support tourism, local businesses, and the overall socio-economic development of Batanes.
In a related development, Globe said it has maintained service connectivity in the majority of its covered areas despite recent weather disturbances and subsequent power outages.
The telco said service loss in Metro Manila and Rizal has been fully repaired, with only a small portion of municipalities experiencing interruptions.
Globe said it is ramping up its response efforts in affected areas by providing free calls and device-charging services.
It has likewise mobilized relief efforts in various communities.
“We are committed to providing immediate lifelines, whether through network reliability, free calls, charging stations, and coordinated relief support,” said Globe Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer Yoly Crisanto.
“We stand with our communities and will continue to respond with care, speed, and purpose,” she added.
