Food packs, medical check-ups given to Las Piñas evacuees
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) distributed food packs to Las Piñas evacuees who were victims of flooding due to continued rains affecting Metro Manila.

Las Piñas City Mayor April Aguilar joined DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian who visited the evacuees and personally handed them a box of food packs.
Aside from Gatchalian and Aguilar, Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Teodoro Herbosa and his team also went to the city to conduct medical check-ups and distribute free medicines to the evacuees.
Aguilar thanked Gatchalian and Herbosa for their help especially since the city was placed under a state of calamity due to a surge in the number of evacuees.
She said the city government continues to monitor the condition of the evacuees and provide them with food packs and other essential needs.
The mayor said the team of the City Health Office, under the leadership of Dr. Julie Gonzalez, also checks on the medical needs of the evacuees to ensure that they are also safe while staying at the evacuation centers.
Aguilar said the CHO also distributed prophylaxis antibiotics for the prevention of leptospirosis to evacuees exposed to flooding.
She said the distribution of the antibiotics is part of the city government's health protocols for flood response.
The mayor said the city government remains on full alert and continues to respond to the needs of residents affected by the weather disturbance.
