CALAMBA CITY, Laguna – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said that 43,000 families were affected by the southwest monsoon or ‘’habagat” enhanced by tropical cyclones in the Calabarzon region.
The agency said 43,374 families were displaced, with 10,255 sheltered in 260 evacuation centers in 42 localities.
Seven-thousand family food packs worth P4.35 million have been released to evacuees.
“These items were distributed based on the assessment and requests of the respective LGUs,” the DSWD-Region 4-a said.
The agency has distributed P8.14 million worth of food packs as augmentation support to 21 local government units in the region.
The DSWD City and Municipal Quick Response Teams continue to assist affected communities through damage assessments and relief operations, particularly in evacuation centers.
