Classes, work in gov't offices remain suspended in NCR, 34 provinces on July 25

Classes in all levels and work in government agencies are still suspended in Metro Manila and 34 provinces in Luzon on Friday, July 25, amid the threat of heavy rains from typhoon "Emong" which was spotted lingering off the waters of Pangsinan, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) announced on Thursday, July 24.
DILG Secretary Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Remulla the affected provinces include those under the Red warning or at least 200 mm rain fall: Bataan, Benguet, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Occidental Mindoro, Pangasinan and Zambales.
Remulla said the provinces of Abra Batangas, Cavite, Ifugao, Ilocos Norte, Laguna, Mt. Province, Pampanga, Tarlac which are all under Orange warning.
Those under Yellow Warning were also under class and government work suspension are Albay, Apayao, Aurora, Bulacan, Cagayan, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Isabela, Kalinga, Marinduque, Nueva Ecija, Nueva Vizcaya, Oriental Mindoro, Palawan, Quezon, Quirino, Rizal, and Romblon.
However, Remulla emphasized that government frontline workers are required to report for work with others having “hybrid systems in place, according to their respective agencies.
In his announcement, Remulla said that he will not crack jokes, saying that even Vice-President Sara Duterte criticized him.
As parts of the country were induced by heavy rains and disasters, Remulla thanked the volunteers and town servants for their strength, dedication and heart, saying that “in your caring and voluntary service, the spirit of heroism is revived.’’
“In every storm, you are the first to be present. Tiredness is not expected, no demand in return. You are the heart of the community. Long live, volunteer town servants,’’ Remulla continued.
