Caloocan declares state of calamity due to heavy rains, flooding

The Caloocan City government officially declared on Thursday, July 24, a state of calamity following days of relentless heavy rains that triggered widespread flooding.

The declaration was made upon the recommendation of the Caloocan City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CCDRRMC).
Under a state of emergency, the local government is authorized to utilize emergency funds to implement urgent disaster response and recovery measures. These include the immediate provision of aid and relief to affected residents, mobilization of resources for rescue and evacuation operations, and safeguarding the safety and welfare of all constituents.
The city government assured the public that necessary steps are being taken to address the situation and mitigate further risks, while urging everyone to remain vigilant and cooperate with authorities during this period.
