ZAMBOANGA CITY – The City Health Office (CHO) confirmed the first case of Monkeypox here on Wednesday, July 23.
The city government said that the patient complained of fever and developed rashes on July 6.
Test results from the Research Institute of Tropical Medicine in Muntinlupa City confirmed that the patient is positive for Mpox.
The patient was placed under isolation and reportedly recovering at home.
The patient has no travel history outside Zamboanga City, but the City Health Office is monitoring four close contacts who are all asymptomatic.
The City Health Office advised the public to remain calm but vigilant and report to the nearest health facility if an individual develops symptoms of Mpox such as fever, rash, or swollen lymph nodes.
