Meanwhile, government agencies in the said areas responsible for basic, vital, and health services, preparedness, and response duties must continue to remain operational to ensure continuity of essential government functions.
Non-vital government employees of subject agencies and all other government workers in the same areas are not required to report to work physically.
“However, where practicable and as determined by the respective heads of agencies, the said government employees shall be on alternate work arrangement, subject to applicable laws, rules, and regulations,” the memorandum read.
On the other hand, the localized cancellation or suspension of classes and/or work in government offices in other regions may be implemented by their respective Local Chief Executives.
The suspension and/or adoption of alternate work arrangements in private companies and offices is left to the discretion of their respective heads.
The suspension comes amidst the ongoing effects of recent weather systems, including Typhoon Crising. President Marcos said that as of July 22, Tuesday, 487,964 families have been affected by the flooding, with 49,617 individuals currently housed inside 500 evacuation centers.
Additionally, 2,790 families are staying outside evacuation centers, receiving assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). Relief goods have been continuously supplied to affected residents.
Six fatalities have been reported so far, with five injured and eight people still missing. Flooding has been reported in 1,875 areas across numerous regions nationwide.
