Mayor Joy thanks DOTr for quick response to flooding concerns in QC
Mayor Joy Belmonte expressed her gratitude to Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Vince Dizon and the MRT-7 management for their prompt response to the city's drainage and flooding concerns linked to the ongoing construction of the Metro Rail Transit Line 7 (MRT-7).
“We extend our sincere gratitude to DOTr Secretary Vince Dizon for his swift and proactive response to the drainage and flooding concerns we raised in relation to the MRT-7 project,” Belmonte said in a statement Wednesday, July 23.

The mayor also acknowledged the immediate action taken by the MRT-7 team in clearing construction sites and removing debris that had been blocking rainwater flow in Quezon City’s drainage systems.
“Their responsiveness reflects a strong commitment to public safety and accountability,” she added.
The MRT-7 construction, particularly near Batasan Station on Commonwealth Avenue, has been identified as a major factor in recent severe flooding in the area.
Mayor Belmonte said the City Engineering Department is now working closely with the DOTr, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), and MRT-7 management to sustain clearing operations and to implement long-term solutions to construction-related obstructions.
“This unified approach is critical in addressing the root causes of flooding and in safeguarding the well-being of our communities,” she emphasized.
Belmonte also thanked all involved agencies and partners that helped solve the flooding problem in the city.
