Mayor Isko distributes free doxycycline capsules vs leptospirosis
Mayor Isko receives relief donations from Rotary International District 3810 and Planet Drugstore Corporation
Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso on Tuesday, July 23, received another round of relief donations from Rotary International District 3810 and Planet Drugstore Corporation, in support of the city’s ongoing disaster response and recovery efforts.
Rotary International District 3810 turned over 500 packs of 5-kilogram rice along with assorted grocery items, while Planet Drugstore Corporation donated 50,000 capsules of Doxycycline, an antibiotic used to prevent leptospirosis and other infections.
These contributions are on top of earlier donations from Garrod Inc., which included 50,000 Doxycycline tablets, 30,000 tablets of Paracetamol, and 500 bottles of Paracetamol syrup.
According to the city government, these medical supplies will be distributed to field personnel from the Department of Engineering and Public Works (DEPW), Department of Public Services (DPS), and the Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau (MTPB), who are actively involved in flood mitigation and cleanup operations.
The donation drive comes as Manila ramps up its emergency response amid continued heavy rains and widespread flooding.
The Manila Health Department is distributing free Doxycycline 100mg capsules (2 capsules, single dose) at local health centers across the city.
Residents are encouraged to visit the nearest health center to receive prophylactic treatment, particularly those exposed to floodwaters.
