Man arrested for raping daughter

BUTUAN CITY – Police arrested a 45-year-old man for allegedly raping his teenage daughter in Cagayan de Oro City multiple times.

Police Regional Office 10-Regional Public Information Office chief Police Major Joann G. Navarro said the suspect, the third most wanted person in Region 10 or Northern Mindanao, was arrested on Tuesday, July 22.

Navarro said the suspect faces two counts of rape and one count of rape by sexual assault. No bail was recommended for the two rape charges but a P200,000 bail was set for the rape by sexual assault case.

Police said the suspect did not resist arrest.

Investigation said the victim, then 12, was first raped in August 2020, second in February 2021, and third in June 2021.

The abuse was only discovered last April when the victim, now 17, confided to her mother who immediately reported the matter to the police.

The suspect is under the custody of the Cagayan de Oro City police for proper disposition.

PRO-10 Director Police Brig. Gen. Rolindo M. Suguilon lauded operating units for arresting the suspect.
