Makati City suspends number coding anew amid monsoon rains
The Makati City local government announced the suspension of number coding on Wednesday, July 23, as heavy rains and flooding are still expected in the city due to the enhanced southwest monsoon, or habagat.
In her advisory, Makati Mayor Nancy Binay urged motorists to take extra precaution when driving amid the inclement weather and asked the public to refrain from going outside their homes unless it is needed.
As of 10 a.m. today, no significant flooding was observed in Makati and all roads and thoroughfares are passable to all types of vehicles.
According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration's (PAGASA) heavy rainfall warning issued at 5 a.m., Metro Manila and some of its nearby provinces were placed under Yellow Warning Level, which means flooding is expected in flood-prone areas.
