Heavy rains to persist in Metro Manila, other parts of Luzon and Visayas until July 25
PAGASA
Metro Manila, most parts of Luzon, and some areas in the Visayas are expected to continue experiencing heavy rains until Friday, July 25 due to the southwest monsoon (habagat) and a low-pressure area (LPA), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Wednesday, July 23.
PAGASA issued a heavy rainfall warning as the LPA, located off the coast of Calayan, Cagayan, and the habagat, which is being enhanced by Tropical Depression Dante, may bring heavy to torrential rains across several areas.
PAGASA also said the LPA has a high likelihood of intensifying into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours. If it does, it will be named “Emong.”
On Wednesday, torrential rainfall (over 200 millimeters) is expected in Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro.
Heavy to intense rainfall (100-200 millimeters) is expected in Metro Manila, Pangasinan, Benguet, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, Batangas, Laguna, and Rizal.
Moderate to heavy rainfall (50-100 millimeters) is expected in La Union, Nueva Vizcaya, Ifugao, Mountain Province, Nueva Ecija, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Palawan, Marinduque, Romblon, Masbate, Sorsogon, Albay, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Antique, Iloilo, Cagayan, Apayao, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Abra, and Kalinga.
By Thursday, July 24, torrential rains may continue in Zambales and Bataan.
Heavy to intense rains are expected in Metro Manila, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, Batangas, Laguna, Rizal, Occidental Mindoro, Ilocos Sur, Pangasinan, and La Union.
Moderate to heavy rains are likely in Nueva Vizcaya, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Palawan, Marinduque, Romblon, Ilocos Norte, Apayao, Abra, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, and Benguet.
On Friday, July 25, Zambales, Bataan, Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Norte, La Union, Pangasinan, Abra, and Apayao will remain under threat of heavy to intense rainfall.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, Batangas, Rizal, Laguna, Occidental Mindoro, Palawan, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, and Benguet may still experience moderate to heavy rains.
PAGASA advised the public to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions, as continuous rainfall over several days could lead to flash floods and landslides, particularly in low-lying and mountainous areas.
