Over 14,000 evacuated in Pasig due to heavy rains—Mayor Vico

Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto said that 4,084 families or 14,249 individuals have sought shelter in the city's evacuation centers as of 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 22, due to continuous heavy rains brought about by the enhanced southwest monsoon, or habagat, that has battered Metro Manila and various parts of Luzon since yesterday, July 21.

Sotto said the affected residents are currently staying at the 26 evacuation centers in Pasig's 15 barangays.
Aside from providing them shelter amid the inclement weather, the city government is also providing hot meals and other supplies to the evacuees, including alcohol for disinfection and anti-mosquito lotions.
The mayor added that the local government unit (LGU) had also activated 13 additional pumping stations to help manage flooding in Pasig. A total of 21 pumping stations are currently in operation throughout the city.
The city government said the public can contact 8643-0000 for emergencies and other concerns.
