'Habagat' rains to soak parts of Luzon, Visayas until July 25; torrential rainfall likely in some areas

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Tuesday, July 22, warned that the southwest monsoon, or “habagat,” will bring heavy to torrential rains over parts of Luzon and Visayas until Friday, July 25.
Between Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday afternoon, July 23, torrential rainfall (over 200 millimeters) is expected in Zambales, Bataan, Metro Manila, Cavite, Batangas, and Occidental Mindoro.
Heavy to intense (100 to 200 millimeters) is forecast in Pangasinan, Benguet, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Laguna, and Rizal.
Areas likely to receive moderate to heavy rainfall (50 to 100 millimeters) include Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Abra, Nueva Ecija, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Palawan, Marinduque, Romblon, Masbate, Sorsogon, Albay, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Antique, Iloilo, Guimaras, and Negros Occidental.
Between Wednesday afternoon and Thursday afternoon, July 24, torrential rains will continue in Pangasinan, Zambales, and Bataan.
Heavy to intense rainfall is expected in La Union, Benguet, Pampanga, Bulacan, Metro Manila, Cavite, Batangas, Laguna, Rizal, and Occidental Mindoro.
Moderate to heavy rainfall will affect Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Abra, Ifugao, Mountain Province, Nueva Vizcaya, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Palawan, Marinduque, Romblon, Albay, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, and Antique.
Between Thursday afternoon and Friday afternoon, July 25, heavy to intense rainfall will persist in Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Zambales, and Bataan.
Meanwhile, moderate to heavy rainfall is expected over Apayao, Abra, Benguet, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Metro Manila, Cavite, Batangas, Rizal, Laguna, Quezon, Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan, and Antique.
PAGASA advised residents, particularly in low-lying and mountainous areas, to remain vigilant against possible flash floods and landslides.
