Netizens have started naming the portions of Commonwealth Avenue near Don Fabian Street that were heavily flooded into "Commonwealth Beach" on Monday, July 21, due to continuous rains brought by the southwest monsoon (habagat).
The flood waters reached knee-deep on sidewalks and tire-deep on the road, causing heavy traffic and disrupting pedestrian movement.
The flooding, which occurred around 1:00 p.m., forced students to wade through rising water while motorists attempted to drive through the inundated highway.

The volume and movement of the floodwaters gave the scene a “beach-like” appearance, with waves forming as vehicles passed and pedestrians trudged through waterlogged streets.
Commonwealth Avenue, one of the city's major thoroughfares, became increasingly difficult to navigate as rains continued to pour throughout the day.
Authorities have urged the public to avoid flooded areas and stay updated on weather advisories.
