DSWD aids 4,000 'Crising,' monsoon-affected families in Calabarzon
CALAMBA CITY, Laguna – More than 4,000 families affected by tropical cyclone "Crising" and the southwest monsoon were provided relief assistance by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Calabarzon.
According to the DSWD regional office, it has provided over P1.29-million worth of food and non-food items to 4,579 families.
The DSWD said the most affected province was Rizal with 2,118 families currently taking shelter in 45 evacuation centers.
The DSWD-Calabarzon said it has been monitoring and assessing the situation since the onset of severe weather conditions on Saturday, July 19.
“Since July 19, the DSWD Field Office IV-A, through its Quick Response Teams, has been closely coordinating with local government units (LGUs) to assess the needs of affected families, especially those displaced and currently staying in LGU-run evacuation centers,” it said.
Aid was extended in Laurel and Tanauan City in Batangas; Silang, Magallanes, and Ternate in Cavite; Cabuyao City in Laguna; Pitogo in Quezon; and Rodriguez and Taytay in Rizal.
The DSWD continues to coordinate with all affected LGUs in Calabarzon to determine the needs of affected families and deliver the appropriate assistance.
Sufficient food and non-food items prepositioned in 69 warehouses across the region are ready for deployment to LGUs requesting support.
