ILOILO CITY — Days after tropical cyclone "Crising" exited the country, three people remain missing in Antique province.
According to the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council-6 (RDRRMC-6), the search for the three individuals continues.
The Antique Provincial DRRM Office said two of the three missing persons were from Sebaste town.
The two men, who are both 30-years-old, have been missing since July 17. They were reportedly swept away by the strong river current.
Along with another companion, the two missing men were having a drinking session inside a bahay kubo or native hut and fell asleep.
“They did not notice that the river’s water began to rise. Luckily, their companion survived,” Antique Provincial DRRM Officer Broderick Train told Manila Bulletin in a phone interview on Tuesday, July 22.
The third missing person was from the town of Valderrama.
The 55-year-old man from Barangay Borocboroc allegedly jumped into the Cangaranan River last July 18.
Citing reports from the Valderrama police, Train said the man was allegedly suffering from depression.
Meanwhile, the RDRRMC-6 chaired by the Office of Civil Defense-6 is still collating data from other parts of Western Visayas region.
Drowning incidents in Iloilo City have yet to be determined if these are related to the monsoon rains enhanced by Crising.
“We are awaiting the report from the police and it has to be validated,” OCD-6 Information Officer Tina Ilustre-Mayor told Manila Bulletin.
