House of Representatives spokesperson, lawyer Princess Abante said there will be a Plan B of sorts for the delivery of President Marcos' fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July 28 in case the weather out of hand.
Abante had this to say in a press conference Monday, July 21, a week before the event that is hosted annually by the House in Batasan, Quezon City.
"I would supposed there will be some contingency on how the SONA will be delivered in the event na mas lumala ang ating panahon (in the event the weather gets worse). Pero kung ano yung mga detalye dun, wala pa ako (But as to its details, I don't have them yet)," she said.
Also on Monday in Batasan Complex, representatives from the House, Senate, and Malacañang held the final inter-agency coordination meeting for the SONA. They did so amid heavy downpour and flooding in nearby areas caused by typhoon "Crising".
Abante took part in the meeting, which was presided over by House Secretary General Reginald Velasco.
Asked if there was any possibility of a postponement of the physical gathering for SONA, Abante said: "Sa ngayon wala pa naman pong ganung pag-uusap pa doon sa physical postponement of the SONA (As of now there is no discussion on the physical postponement of the SONA)."
At any rate, Abante said the House will stick with it's preparation plans.
"I'll have to check later kung magkakaroon ng iba pang developments sa ating weather, but sa ngayon we are preparing na tuloy-tuloy at matutuloy ang SONA as prepared (I’ll have to check later if there will be any further developments with our weather, but for now, we are preparing as planned and the SONA will push through as prepared)," she said.
"Sa ngayon tuloy-tuloy pa rin yung preparations natin, hindi naman siya naaantala. Of course we will keep on monitoring yung developments ng ating panahon sa mga susunod ma araw. Pero as of today, tuloy-tuloy at wala namang disruption sa mga preparation," the lawyer-spokesperson added.
(As of now, our preparations are continuing without delay. Of course, we’ll keep monitoring the weather developments over the coming days. But as of today, everything’s proceeding smoothly with no disruptions.)
