Why Lani Misalucha didn't pursue acting: 'Walang gusto kumuha sa akin'
Already very much established as "Asia's Nightingale," award-winning singer Lani Misalucha, 55, recently shared why she didn't pursue acting like many of her contemporaries including singer-actress Regine Velasquez, Pops Fernandez, among others.
"Simple lang sagot: walang gusto kumuha sa akin," she quipped.
It isn't as if she was actively pursuing the idea. She was quite busy as singer even then, filling huge places like the Araneta Coliseum.
"Meron pa akong 'SOP' nun. So dun palang ay busy na ako. Kaya sabi ko that time, ayoko talaga mag artista," she related.
At this point, Lani is not closing her doors when it comes to TV or film projects. In fact, she wants to play contravida.
"Kasi hindi naman na ako papasa sa pa-tweetums," she laughed.
And if she is allowed to choose an onscreen partner?
"Gusto ko maka-eksena si Ai-Ai (delas Alas) kasi kilala ko na siya," Lani answered.
What's next for Lani?
After almost 40 years in the biz, Lani admitted that she is now "semi-retired."
" I'm taking things slow na especially right now kasi hindi ko naman na kayang gawin yung mga bagay na ginagawa ko nung 20 yrs old ako," she explained.
Lani is also quite content with what she has achieved through the years.
"Right now, I just like to spend time with my grandkids, kasi ayun na yung time na pinakamasaya ako," she added.
But it's not stopping her from headlining a concert once in a while.
Lani will perform at The Solaire on Aug. 21 in a concert dubbed "Still Lani."
Produced by Nate Quijano and Cris Mananquil, with visionary director Calvin Neria at the helm, "Still Lani" is under the guidance of Toma Cayabyab, son of National Artist for Music Ryan Cayabyab.
