This year’s advocacy run carries the compelling theme "Ang Laban Natin sa West Philippine Sea ay Laban ng BawatNating Lahat Bilang Pilipino" — a call to action that reminds every Filipino that the fight to protect our seas is a shared national duty.
Organized by RunRio Inc., in partnership with key government agencies such as the National Task Force for the West Philippine Sea, the Philippine Coast Guard, the National Youth Commission, the Philippine Information Agency, and WPS IncorporationWe Protect Our Seas (WPS), this annual run is more than just a health and wellness activity — it is a symbol of unity and a peaceful demonstration of our collective stand in defending the Philippines’ sovereign rights in the West Philippine Sea.
The event offers various race categories — 3K, 5K, and 10K — open to runners, families, students, uniformed personnel, and advocates from all walks of life. Registered participants will receive a race kit that includes an official race shirt, race bib, and finisher’s token medal. More than just a run, it is a meaningful gathering of Filipinos committed to protecting our territorial waters and honoring the sacrifices of those who safeguard them.
The Takbo Para sa West Philippine Sea 2025 aims to raise public awareness on the continuing challenges in the region — from unlawful intrusions to the plight of our fisherfolk — and to amplify the call for peace, sovereignty, and maritime security. The event also honors the resilience and dedication of the uniformed personnel from the Philippine Coast Guard, Navy, and the many unsung heroes in our coastal communities.
Proceeds from the event will help fund information campaigns, maritime education programs, and support initiatives for communities directly affected by tensions in the West Philippine Sea.
