Pasig, Marikina open evacuation centers amid heavy rains, flood threat
The local governments of Pasig and Marikina have opened evacuation centers for families at risk of flooding brought by heavy rains due to the southwest monsoon (habagat).
As of 6:30 p.m. on Monday, July 21, 12 evacuation centers across nine barangays in Pasig are open and accommodating evacuees, with 472 families composed of 1,710 individuals currently staying at the following centers:
Barangay Bagon Ilog- B. Tatco Covered Court
Barangay Dela Paz- Dela Paz Multipurpose Hall
Barangay Pinagbuhatan- Nagpayong Multipurpose Hall
Barangay Maybunga- Westbank Community Center Annex
Barangay Santolan- Ilaya Covered Court and Santolan Elementary School
Barangay Rosario- Bluegrass Multipurpose Hall and Rosario Elementary School
Barangay Sta. Lucia- De Castro Elementary School
Barangay Sta. Rosa- 3/F Multipurpose Hall
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto visited the evacuation centers in Ilaya Covered Court and Manggahan Multipurpose Hall to check on the condition of families temporarily staying there due to rising floodwaters in their areas.
The local government also provided meals for the evacuees.

In addition, Sotto also inspected the pumping station in Barangay Manggahan.

Meanwhile, in Marikina City, 36 evacuation centers have been activated across the city to accommodate families who may need to evacuate due to rising water levels or possible flooding.

The local government advised residents in low-lying areas to stay alert and coordinate immediately with authorities if evacuation becomes necessary.
