Disc jockey dies in North Cotabato mishap

MIDSAYAP, North Cotabato – A local radio disc jockey died in a highway mishap before dawn Monday in Libungan, North Cotabato.
The media community in Midsayap and nearby towns mourned the passing of Garry Lehito, 34, of Barangay Gayonga, Northern Kabuntalan, Maguindanao del Norte, according to a social media post by Jun Villasoto, a member of the Midsayap media.
Villasoto said Lehito was driving his motorbike when the accident occurred at about 4:30 a.m. Lehito was also known as the vocalist of a local band while serving as a disc jockey at 104.1 WOW FM in Midsayap town.
Police reported that Lehito had joined a drinking spree after a Sunday night gig before the accident. He reportedly lost control of his motorbike and plunged into the grassy roadside, hitting a tree. He succumbed to injuries to his head and body.
Responding residents and police rushed him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Villasoto described Lehito as a friendly and hardworking media colleague. (PNA)
