"Catching Hope: A Filipino Couple's Journey Through Adversity" by J. Singlador
SinagLarawan Photo Contest returns this year with an evocative new theme and a renewed call to spotlight Filipino identity through photography.
A project of JTI Philippines under its community investment program, SinagLarawan continues its mission to promote Filipino artistry, cultural storytelling, and visual expression. Beyond capturing beauty, the contest invites creatives to reflect the nuances of being Filipino.
Themed “Isa sa Isla,” this year’s competition explores the profound ways water shapes our everyday lives and nurtures a collective spirit across the archipelago. The official launch was held on July 10 at the JTI Philippines office in Taguig City. The theme seeks images that capture water's role in Filipino experiences, from livelihoods and rituals to everyday joys and shared challenges, most especially during times of crisis.
“At JTI Philippines, making meaningful contributions to the growth of societies is key to being a socially responsible business,” said Guilherme Silva, general manager of JTI Philippines. “Alongside our focus on people and environment, we are committed to transformative projects in arts and culture such as SinagLarawan which is a standout initiative that promotes artistic development and helps drive cultural preservation, using the powerful art of photography to highlight the unique Filipino traditions and characteristics.”
“At its core, SinagLarawan is a celebration of the unique traits that shape the Filipino identity. We are doing this through the powerful medium of photography,” said Faith Mondejar, community investment manager of JTI. “SinagLarawan recognizes the talent of Filipino photographers, offering them a vital platform to showcase their work and help strengthen the vibrant photography community in the Philippines.”
