Pasig houses robbed amid heavy rains; suspect's cohort nabbed
Not even the heavy rains and strong winds brought by severe tropical storm (STS) Crising stopped a man from breaking into homes and stealing valuables in Barangay Pideda, Pasig City on Saturday morning, July 19.

The Pasig City Police Station identified the suspect as “John,” 21, who remains at large. Meanwhile, his cohort, identified as “Archie,” was arrested after being found in possession of some stolen items.
Authorities said they received a 911 call from a 27-year-old woman who reported that upon returning home from work, she found her apartment window partially open. She discovered that her company-issued laptop worth P77,000, a pouch containing P1,000 in coins, and her passport were missing.
The report prompted authorities to respond, where they later discovered that the victim’s neighbors had also been robbed. They lost four mobile phones (Samsung A5, A32, A56, and Vivo 1610) worth a total of P50,000 and a shoulder bag containing jewelry valued at P40,000, along with various ATM cards and IDs.
Despite the bad weather, officers from Sub-Station 1 immediately conducted CCTV backtracking, which showed John entering the victims’ houses before heading to Archie’s residence. This led to a follow-up operation where Archie was arrested, and the stolen shoulder bag containing jewelry was recovered from him.
Upon record checking, officers discovered that Archie has a prior criminal record, having been arrested for drug-related offenses on November 8, 2019, and April 11, 2023.
Archie is now detained and will face a theft charge. Efforts to locate and apprehend John are still ongoing.
Pasig City Police chief Col. Hendrix Mangaldan praised the quick response of Sub-Station 1 personnel, saying their efforts led to the suspect’s arrest and showed their strong commitment to keeping the public safe despite bad weather conditions.
