A magnitude 5.5 earthquake jolted Calayan, Cagayan on Sunday, July 20, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
The quake, which was tectonic in origin, struck at 1:45 p.m., and had a depth of 32 kilometers.
According to the agency, its epicenter was 50 kilometers northwest of Calayan.
Phivolcs said the quake was felt at Intensity 5 in Calayan, where strong shaking was reported.
It was also felt at Intensity 3 in Pamplona.
The quake registered Intensity 3 in Claveria, Intensity 2 in Basco, and Intensity 1 in Peñablanca.
Phivolcs said no damage is expected, but aftershocks may occur.
