'Crising,' 'habagat' damage 139 houses in Negros Occidental

BACOLOD CITY – A total of 139 houses were damaged by flood and strong winds due to heavy rains from the southwest monsoon and tropical cyclone ‘’Crising’’ here and Negros Occidental.
As of Sunday, July 20, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reported that 14 and 121 houses were totally and partially damaged.
Hinoba-an town had the highest number of partially damaged houses with 91 and one totally damaged house.
There were four totally damaged houses in La Castellana, five in Bago City, three in Isabela town, and one in Sipalay City.
Twenty-five houses were partially destroyed in Bago City and five in Sipalay City.
Eighteen out of 31 local government units (LGUs) in the province – Hinoba-an, Cauayan, Binalbagan, Isabela, Sipalay City, Kabankalan City, Himamaylan City, Ilog, Candoni, Hinigaran, Calatrava, Moises Padilla, Pontevedra, Valladolid, La Castellana, Bago, La Carlota, and San Enrique – were affected with nearly 19,000 families or 31,400 individuals displaced
Four houses in Barangay Granada here were partially damaged, according to the Bacolod City government.
Mayor Greg Gasataya directed the preemptive evacuation of 192 residents in Barangays Cabug, 27, and Villamonte here on Friday night, July 18, due to heavy rains and flooding.
The Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD)-Bacolod and the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) distributed 65 relief packs to families in evacuation centers on Saturday, July 19.
Barangay emergency responders relocated affected families to schools and multi-purpose halls.
