2 cities, 7 towns in Bulacan suspend classes due to flooding
The provincial government of Bulacan suspends classes in all levels, both public and private on Monday, July 21, as continuous heavy rains from the enhanced Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) triggered flooding in low-lying areas.
There will be no face-to-face classes in Balagtas, Bocaue, Malolos, Hagonoy, Guiguinto, Bulakan, Meycauayan, Calumpit, City San Jose Del Monte, and Sta. Maria.
The effects of persistent rainfall and elevated tide levels have resulted in flooded roads in low-lying areas.
The public is advised to remain indoors, and stay alert for further announcements from city and municipal governments as well as local school authorities.
Vice Governor Alexis Castro continues to lead monitoring efforts from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) Operations Center, mobilizing the full capacity of the Provincial Government of Bulacan to assist affected residents.
“Although the storm has exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility, we must remain cautious and continue looking out for our fellow Bulakenyos,” he said.
In case of emergency, residents may contact the Bulacan Rescue hotline at (044) 791-0566, 0905-333-3319, or 0942-367-1455.
