'When Life Gives You Tangerines' wins grand prize at 4th Blue Dragon Series Awards

“When Life Gives You Tangerines,” the Korean drama starring IU and Park Bogum, won the grand prize (“daesang”) at the 4th Blue Dragon Series Awards held at Paradise City in Incheon, South Korea on July 18.
The awards recognized excellence in streaming or OTT series.
“When Life Gives You Tangerines” premiered on Netflix in March with 16 episodes.
Its stars also won at the 4th Blue Dragon Awards. IU won best actress while Yeom Hye-ran took home the best supporting actress award. Lee Kwang-soo of “Karma” won best supporting actor.

“When I first received the offer for ‘When Life Gives You Tangerines,’ while filming, while waiting for it to air, while it aired, it was a work that I was most proud of in my life, and it will continue to be in the future,” said IU as she received the award, Korean media reported.
She added, “It’s hard to mention each and every one of them, but thanks to writer Lim Sang-choon, director Kim Won-seok, and all the cast and staff who appear in the ending credits, I think I had the most fun in my life.” She continued, “I’m so grateful that they gave me the role of Oh Ae-sun, who is cute, talkative, and smart. I’m also grateful to the fans.”
In addition, IU and Park Bogum won the Upbeat Popular Star Award along with actress Hyeri and actor Lee Jun-hyuk.
“The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call,” another Netflix series, won best drama, while its lead star, Ju Ji-hoon, bagged the best actor award.
The best new actress award went to Kim Min-ha of “Way Back Love” while Choo Young-woo, who currently stars in Prime Video’s “Head Over Heels,” won best new actor for “The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call.”
