Marcos said this as he led the launch of the eGovPH Super App, where a digital copy of the National ID can be found, in San Juan City on Friday, July 18.
In his remarks, the President assured the public that while digital services are being prioritized to meet the demands of modern governance, the production and distribution of physical IDs will continue to ensure accessibility for all sectors.
"May sektor pa rin ng ating lipunan na nag-i-insist doon sa physical ID. So, isusunod na namin yun (There are still sectors of our society that insist on having the physical ID. So, we will continue producing those)," he said.
Marcos said the digital version of the national ID is currently prioritized because of its wide use in online transactions.
"Inuna namin yung digital dahil siyempre iyon talaga ang pinaka-nagagamit (We prioritized the digital version because that is the most used)," he explained.
According to the President, 88 million Filipinos have already secured their digital national ID.
He added that the digital ID has proven essential for accessing the services integrated into the eGovPH Super App, a one-stop mobile platform designed to simplify government transactions.
"With the digital ID, we are able to do all of the things that the eGov app is able to do," Marcos said.
"You can do all that in the comfort of your own home, in your office, or you know, while you’re playing Candy Crush," he added.
Latest data from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) show that 93.48 million Filipinos have registered for the national ID, out of a total population of 112.7 million.
As of June 6, the PSA has reported the delivery of 54.91 million physical national ID cards.
