Las Piñas City Mayor April Aguilar extended support to the mother of the one-year-old baby girl who died during a flash flood in Almanza Uno, following the safe delivery of her newborn child at the Las Piñas Lying-In Clinic in BF International/CAA last Wednesday, July 16.
Roselyn Montellana, who was eight months pregnant during the flooding incident on July 8, lost her daughter Thania after a sudden surge of floodwaters struck their home.
A week later, Montellana gave birth to a healthy baby girl, whom she named Tanya in memory of her late child. The baby weighed 3.3 kilograms and is in stable condition.
As part of the city’s continuing assistance, Aguilar deployed City Health Office head Dr. Juliana Gonzalez to personally visit the patient and her newborn, ensuring that they receive proper medical attention and postnatal care.
The visit was conducted under the mayor’s “Alagang April” initiative, which aims to provide responsive and compassionate healthcare services to Las Piñas residents.
Aguilar assured that the local government will continue to monitor the family’s condition and provide the necessary support.
She said the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) has been assisting the family since the tragedy, including the provision of funeral aid, hospital coordination, temporary shelter, and emotional support.
