Village chief killed, 9 hurt in road mishap

ALCALA, Cagayan – A barangay chairman was killed and nine passengers were injured in a road crash in Barangay Pared here on Friday morning, July 18.
Police identified the fatality as Jesus Calatican, 54, chairman of Barangay Lablabig, Claveria, Cagayan and driver of a barangay service vehicle.
The injured were China Rubio, 57; Andres Rubio, 52; Rosalie Udac, 65; Princess Udac, 26; Edimar Pascua, 49; Benelyn Martinez, 44; Pedro Cabangin, 65, and two minors.
The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office said Calaritan lost control of the vehicle on a curve portion of the road and crashed. 
Calaritan was pinned behind the driver’s seat and died of his injuries.
The injured were taken to the hospital in Tuguegarao City.
