Surprising flavor, familiar comfort: Sogo enters the restaurant scene
Hotel Sogo's new dining concept serves up hearty Filipino favorites and value-driven meals across select Metro Manila branches
By MBrand
Hotel Sogo, known across the Philippines for its budget-friendly accommodations, is now expanding its offerings beyond overnight stays and hourly rates. After more than three decades in the hospitality industry, the brand has quietly launched its first in-house dining concept: Sogo Food Restaurant.
Now open in four Metro Manila locations—Malate, Roxas Boulevard, Buendia, and Santolan—the restaurant presents a menu that leans heavily into Filipino comfort food, with a mix of fast-casual staples and classic silog breakfasts served all day.
A fast, flavorful menu
Sogo Food Restaurant isn’t a hotel café in the traditional sense. While its setting is casual and accessible, the food takes center stage. Among the most popular items are a variety of dim sum options: Pork Siomai, Chicken Siomai, and Shark’s Fin Siomai come served hot, generously portioned, and made better with the house chili-garlic sauce. The Mini Siopao Asado and Jumbo Siopao also deliver on both flavor and comfort, while the seasoned Chicken Feet offer a bolder bite.
But it’s the sisig selection that stands out. The classic Pork Sisig is served sizzling and well-seasoned, while the Bangus Sisig offers a lighter, fish-based alternative. Even vegetarians can join in with the crispy, flavorful Tofu Sisig—arguably one of the best dishes on the menu.
Options beyond meat
Sogo Food Restaurant also caters to health-conscious diners with a variety of vegetable-forward dishes. Familiar Filipino favorites like Lumpiang Ubod, Pinakbet, and Chopseuy round out the menu. These are not mere afterthoughts—they’re well-prepared, portioned generously, and taste homemade. The Chopseuy, in particular, is packed with crisp vegetables and served in a savory, lightly thickened sauce that’s both satisfying and nourishing.
From breakfast to bento
For fans of all-day breakfast, Sogo delivers with a full lineup of silog meals—from Tapsilog and Tocilog to other popular combinations—all served with garlic rice and a fried egg. The menu also includes bento-style meals and hot soups for those in need of something quick and comforting.
Rethinking hotel dining
In launching Sogo Food Restaurant, the brand extends its identity beyond short-stay hospitality into something more lifestyle-driven. The restaurant caters not just to checked-in guests but to walk-in diners, night owls, and anyone craving accessible Filipino food that doesn’t compromise on quality or cost.
At a time when convenience and value are paramount, Sogo’s newest venture proves that good food can come from unexpected places—even from a hotel chain known more for discretion than dining.
Sogo Food Restaurant is currently available at Hotel Sogo branches in Malate, Roxas Boulevard, Buendia, and Santolan.
